Stanford KASA Korean Culture Night 2.27.04
Stanford… The Hak-Won Heroes =) The undefeated Stanford Cardinal. Ranked #1 in the nation… i definitely felt the pride there…
its always good seeing non-Koreans bangin the Hwimori baby babeee
One of my Role models and an inspiration to so many Koreans struggling with their identity, the crisis in N. Korea, and how gender roles affect our culture and paradigm. HELIE LEE is DOOOPE. i finally had a chance to talk to her and she is an AMAZING person. not only is she strikingly beautiful with dark black hair and not ONE DROP of makeup… she doesn’t use ANY makeup. nothing against makeup… i think makeup is all good… and even rev. billy graham said if the house needs painting… paint it. =)makeup has become standard…
Helie likes setting different standards though… She’s one of the most brave persons I’ve ever met… pursuing a career as a novelist, being a writer for the show In-Living-Color, traveling the world speaking about her experiences as an Asian American woman, rescuing her uncle’s family from the borders of N. Korea/China!!!, and inspiring the next generation to pursue all their dreams and make a difference in this society. she is a single, thirty-something woman… doin her thing. a true pioneer and a talented writer who’ll be long remembered for all she’s done for the community. Mad props Helie Lee… see you at Kascon! www.kascon.org
Helie Lee is author of national bestseller, ”Still Life with Rice,” “In the absence of Sun” and she’s currently working on her next book, “Macho Like me” she’s been featured on OPRAH! y’no you’ve made it big if Oprah’s talkin about you. =)
The Stanford KASA Staff… Incredibly polite group of students. most striking characteristic of all the Stanford students… they definitely showed respect to their elders > one reason why they got into Stanford. oh yeah, and they’re frickin SMART. Stanford is the IVY League school of the West Coast. They are the HAK-WON HEROES. =) Korean newspapers are pimpin their names back home. mad props Stanford KASA… do your thing for the next generation.
